Carmelo Anthony ends his career – after 20 years

After 20 years, Carmelo Anthony is putting basketball on the shelf and ending his career.
The NBA star announced this in a post on social media on Monday evening.
– But now it’s time for me to say goodbye, says Anthony.
Carmelo Anthony haven’t played with his Los Angeles Lakers since April 2022.
Now the 38-year-old announces that he is ending his 20-year basketball career.
– I remember the days when I had nothing, just a ball on the court and a dream of something more, says Anthony in a posts on social media.

Carmelo Anthony was selected number three in NBA-draft in 2003, where he was signed by the Denver Nuggets.
He made his NBA debut on October 29 of that year, in an 80–72 home win against the San Antonio Spurs.
During his 19 seasons in the league, he has represented, among other things, the New York Knicks, the Oklahoma City Thunder and most recently the Los Angeles Lakers.
Anthony ends his playing days having been selected as one of the 75 greatest players in NBA history and as a ten-time NBA All-Star player.
– Basketball was my outlet. My purpose was strong, my communities, the cities I represented with pride and the fans who supported me along the way. I am eternally grateful to these people and places because they made me Carmelo Anthony, he says in his farewell video and continues:
– But now it’s time for me to say goodbye. With this bittersweet farewell to the NBA, I am excited for what the future holds for me.
Carmelo Anthony finishes his career with a total of 28,289 points, making him the ninth leading scorer in NBA history.
