Felix Rosenqvist historically fast in Indy 500 qualifying | Engine

In Saturday’s qualifying attempt, he had the third fastest time ever in the four-lap qualifier, with an average speed of a breathtaking 376.5 kilometers per hour.

– When I saw the speed we had today, I was shocked. There are unreal numbers on the first qualifying day, so you just have to enjoy the moment, says the Swede in a press release.

Saturday’s result, fastest of the day, means he advances to the decisive qualifying day on Sunday where the twelve fastest drivers settle for the top four starting positions.

– Wow. I’m at a loss for words right now. It was a phenomenal attempt, says Felix Rosenqvist.

Marcus Ericsson in the top twelve

Indycar’s other Swede, last year’s Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson, is also among the twelve fastest drivers on Sunday.

Englishwoman Katherine Legge will drive the Indianapolis 500 for the third time. The last time it happened was ten years ago, in 2013. She is the ninth woman to start the storied race. The last time a woman participated was countrywoman Pippa Mann in 2019.
