Oscar Lindberg, 31, has hit the mark at just the right stage of the season.
During the hockey WC in Tampere, he has grown into a reliable scorer for Tre Kronor. He became the first scorer against Germany, netted three days later against Finland and in Wednesday’s fight with Hungary it was another goal for the Skellefteåsonen.
That means he has three goals in four games. A result that makes him Sweden’s top scorer in the World Cup.
– It’s about being in the right place at the right time. Then I manage to push it there. It’s also a lot about coincidences, he says right after the victory against Hungary.
The teammates’ joking dick
He has been praised by the Tre Kronor management and his teammates during the championship. Skellefteå friend Jonathan Pudas and Färjestad’s captain Linus Johansson revealed earlier this week to Expressen that Oscar Lindberg traveled to the WC with an odd set of hockey sticks, to say the least.
– We tease him a little, but it feels like he had been down and picked up previously signed clubs from friends that he has with him, says Jonathan Pudas and laughs.
Linus Johansson tabs in:
– At least he scores goals.
Pillows:
– Yes, the success is perhaps where he got them from. From 2013-2014 when Skellefteå won. He has been to collect the gold bars.
Both national team teammates are in any case convinced that Lindberg is not playing with newly produced clubs.
– They are really worn out. You still think that there is a big risk that someone will come here with plastic wrap, but this felt much closer to the fact that he had played inline hockey with them before, says Pudas.
Lindberg laughs when he hears what the cops said:
– They’re not really that old, but I’ve probably been driving with them for two months now. I’m waiting on some new clubs now, so we’ll see if they’re any good.
