Bryson Dechambeau lost eight pounds in 24 days

Bryson Dechambeau, or “The Science Man” as he is also called, is one of the golf world’s most controversial figures.

After challenging the limits when it comes to swing speed and physical training, the “Scientist” has now made a new weight journey – in the other direction.

– I’m finally in a place where I can play good golf again, says Deachambeau to The Telegraph.

After the first round of the year’s second major, the PGA Championship, one of golf’s most talked about players, Bryson Dechambeau, leads the way.

The 29-year-old has many times been criticized and noticed for his special training methods and his view of how to reach the world elite in golf.

Physics formulas to measure his putts to perfection and the same length of each club are just some of the methods the 29-year-old has implemented to optimize his game.

Gained 14 kilos

But the most notable was the body transformation he made in 2019 when he chose to, very intensively in a relatively short period of time, put on about 14 kilos of muscle to maximize his swing speed.

Over the next two seasons, the American hit the longest of anyone on the tour and averaged 295 meters with the driver. And in addition to playing on the tour, he also participated in the WC in long driving in 2022.

Dechambeau was criticized for testing the limits of the sport a little too much and stood out too much according to many.

Made new transformation

But ahead of this year’s edition of the PGA Championships, it was another Dechambeau who cheered things up. The 29-year-old had gone through another weight journey and this time instead down. In just 24 days, the golfer lost eight kilos.

The American tells The Telegraph that the diet he ate during the weight gain, which included seven meals a day, caused tremendous problems.

– I ate just about everything. I was just thinking lots of protein and lots of carbs. But there was some sugar that came with it as well, which was not so good for the body, Dechambeau adds The Telegraph and continues:

– When the doctors did tests, they saw that I was super inflamed. They said I had to change my diet and I wanted to live a long life, so I did.

The weight loss helped and after one round at the year’s second major, the American leads by one stroke.

– I have lost weight, but I have not lost speed in my muscle memory. “My trend is going up, and I’m finally in a place where I can play good golf again,” said Dechambeau.
