Simona Halep’s doping hearing has been canceled by the federation once, twice, three times. The moments that make the former world number one frustrated and disappointed.
“I have asked for a quick hearing, as stated in the anti-doping rules. It’s my right, it’s in the rules,” she writes on Twitter.
“Unfortunately, the ITF has canceled my hearing on three occasions.”
Halep, a two-time grand slam winner, has been suspended since last October after testing positive for the banned substance roxadustat.
“So disrespectful”
Last week, the International Tennis Federation’s Integrity Unit (ITIA) announced that it had also found irregularities in the 31-year-old Romanian’s biological passport, charging Halep with another doping violation.
In a post on Twitter, she denied the allegations and criticized the way ITIA handled her case.
After the third suspended hearing, she again chose to present her views on social media.
“This lack of respect for the rules of the ITF and ITIA is so disrespectful to me that I have no words,” she writes.
“They not only kill my reputation, but also me as a professional player, and I’m not even talking about the consequences for my mental health.”
