Liverpool’s Jürgen Klopp is suspended – forced to fine millions

Jürgen Klopp criticized referee Paul Tierney.

– I honestly don’t know what he has against us, said the Liverpool coach after the Spurs match.

Now he is banned for two matches – and fined.

It was after Liverpool’s match against Tottenham on April 30, where Diogo Jota decided in extra time (4–3), that the coach Jurgen Klopp celebrated in the fourth official’s face. The reason was dissatisfaction with a decision – just before Spurs’ 3-3 goal.

After the match he went hard on the head referee Paul Tierney.

– We have our history with Tierney. I honestly don’t know what he has against us. He has said there is no problem but that cannot be true, he said, according to Sky Sports.

“The way he looks at me…”

The German brought up an earlier incident, as an example.

– The way he looks at me… I don’t understand. He judged us against Tottenham in 2021 where Harry Kane would have received a red. I love him, and I don’t want him to be deported. But he should have been.

Got a million fine

The incident has been investigated and the verdict came on Thursday. Klopp is suspended for two matches and forced to fine 75,000 pounds (around 985,000 kroner).

Therefore, the coach will not be on the sidelines against Aston Villa this weekend. However, he is back for the final round of the season, away to Southampton, with the second game postponed until next season, provided he does not commit any further offences.
