LOS ANGELES. The Vegas Golden Knights were out of sorts.

But a late equalizer in the third period and an early game-winning goal in overtime changed everything.

They managed a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars in Sunday’s matinee performance at T-Mobile Arena and now lead the semifinal series 2-0 in games.

Chandler Stephenson became the hero of the match after tapping in a rebound when 1-12 minutes had been played of extra time.

– My first goal in overtime in the Stanley Cup, so this is big, Stephenson said in a televised interview with ESPN right after the final whistle.

As William Karlsson warned in an Expressen interview published last Saturday evening, Swedish time, Dallas came out more tagged than in the premiere last Thursday.

Then the Golden Knights finally won 4-3 after extra time. William Karlsson was a two-goal shooter in that match.

In Sunday’s meeting, Dallas took an early 1-0 lead through the Finnish back star Miro Heiskanen.

Vegas tied it on the power play midway through the first period, Mark Stone was the scorer.

But the Stars regained the lead midway through the second period and that was it Jason Robertsonwho scooped in a rebound.

2-1 stood until 17.38 minutes into the third period when Jonathan Marchessault equalized after a brilliant behind-the-back pass from the short edge of JackEichel.

The Dallas defense was outplayed and the game went to overtime.

The Golden Knights applied pressure and Chandler Stephenson was able to decide on a rebound after the puck bounced between the skates of Stars back Miro Heiskanen.

William Karlsson was scoreless this time. He had one shot on target and won 60 percent of the draws.

This streak now moves to Dallas for the next two meetings at the American Airlines Center.

All four played the games in the semifinals so far that have gone to extra time. It has never happened before.
